Information about the park

The Aquarium in Cattolica is the most important aquarium on the Adriatic coast with its 2.500.000 liters of sea water tanks where more than 3000 type specimen of 400 different species live. It'a a fascinating place where nature turns into beauty, education and entertainment thanks to 4 different itineraries indoors.
The blue itinerary presents the history of our planet and its biological evolution. Sharks, penguins, turtles and jellyfish, hosted in over 100 display tanks are the stars along this exciting itinerary. The yellow itinerary is a journey to the discovery of rivers. The aquarium most incredible and important area where two new pools host in their natural habitats our planet's most playful and lovable mammals: caimans and otters. The green itinerary is dedicated to exotic animals such as chameleons, frogs, insects and snakes and allows visitors to gain greater awareness of the planet's heritage that is passed on from generation to generation. The purple itinerary is an interactive one offering the unique opportunity to explore the sounds made by the inhabitants of the sea. Thanks to the various display tanks people can discover how fish, mammals and invertebrates communicate.
These new tanks were built according to the Aquarium mission: the raising of the awareness of the public and the education of it on the conservation and the responsible management of the water environment through the knowledge of the animal world and its habitat.
The Aquarium in Cattolica is located in buildings of the 1930s with a fleet of ship like shape originally thought as a summer camp for children. It was inaugurated in 1934 and represented the Futurism and its modernity, velocity and progress.
